God Continues to Give Increase in Spite of Corona

Thank you for your continued support. COVID-19 did not stop nor slow down our ministry. We started this year very busy. Here is a summary of what God is doing:

TV AND RADIO

A.   SAYARE (Voice of Mercy) TV Station in Kenya.
  a.    Solomon continues to teach God’s word Thursday 8 PM and Saturday 6:30 PM.
  b.    With financial gift from Grace Community Chapel the station was able to buy another
signal to expand listener-ship to Western Kenya. This resulted in many more listeners
responding. The station had to hire someone to deal with the responses from the listeners.
B.   KASSFM TV and Radio
  a.    We continue with panel discussion 10:30 PM to 1:00 PM CT.
  b.    Panelists are former students who have returned home and some
still in the United States.
  c.    Each session Solomon provides devotional from Scripture and leads in prayer.
  d.    We discuss different topics affecting lives including leadership, development, family and
other topics important to our listeners. Solomon provides Biblical perspective
on each topic.
  e.    The program is live through radio and listeners can send comments and questions
during the discussion. It is also taped and played on TV at least twice during the week.

NEW AREA OF MINISTRY: Apologetics Class

A.   We started on April 6 and we meet every other Tuesday for 15 weeks.
B.   We are working in partnership with St. Andrews School of Apologetics founded by
one of our supporters who is also the Dean, Jeffery Holtz, M.A.T.
C.    We combine Facebook and Zoom for the sake of students in countries
where zoom is not possible.

Facebook Live

a.    English Bible Study
    i.    Until recently we were meeting Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We now meet
  Wednesdays and Fridays to give time for preparation and other programs
  in Swahili and Kalenji.
    ii.    According to Facebook we have followers in over 55 countries. In some months we reach
  60 countries. In April 15 Facebook stopped Watch Party which Ruby used to air our
  message 24/7 around the world. Ironically speaking Ruby found other ways of sharing
  and in since April 6, the number of people are reaching increased by 602% to 72,753.
  What a great God we serve.
   iii.    Ruby has been able to send each program to over 100 other forums
  in Facebook pages and Whatsapp!
   iv.    Sometimes we have to follow up with counseling through the phone and
  connecting listeners to Churches where we know of a good Church.
b.    Swahili Bible Study
    i.    We try to meet once a week.
    ii.    We plan to tape the teaching and make it available through Youtube and other forums.
c.    Kalenjin Bible Study (Kalenjin is Solomon’s mother tongue.
   i.    Meets also once a week
   ii.    Message sent to other forums

Zoom

a.    We have done two marriage seminars with an attendance of over 600 people.
  b.    We provided Christmas message to a group of Kenyans in Washington organized by one
  of the officials from the Kenyan Embassy and other professionals.
  c.    On Easter we teamed up with another ministry in Florida and provided Easter message.

NEEDS

A.   Regular Support
   a.    We did well in December, January and February. But, we were short about $3000.00 for
  the months of March and April.
B.   Operation: Extra Expenses
   a.    Hunter Stout is helping with the technical aspect of the ministry, setting up all the
  equipment for our broadcasts, running of the website. ISI pays him hourly from our
  personal account.
   b.    Computer: We need a new computer capable of handling all the programs we are doing.
  Our current laptop is outdated and limited in capacity.
   c.    Zoom: We upgraded at a cost of $350.00 per year to handle up to 350 people at one time
  and have unlimited time for each meeting. As we grow we will need to upgrade it further.

God continues to open doors for us in spite of and because of COVID-19. Many worldwide are at home and unable to go out. They are a captive audience. Here is how God is using this pandemic in our ministry.

Voice of Wisdom and Truth: Facebook Bible Study

(Monday, Wednesday and Friday)

For a while we were doing Bible study every night. But with the other programs, we had to limit to three times a week. That allowed time for good preparation and for the other programs, Radio, TV and Facebook live in Kalenjin. We started with the question, why Jesus came in the flesh. Currently we are on "A Journey from Genesis to Revelation at a Glance". We are looking at God's plan of salvation as a unifying factor in the Bible.
In Genesis 11:9 God began the creation of the nations that we see today. Immediately in 11:10 he began the creation of one nation beginning with Shem drawing a line all the way to the beginning of the Nation of Israel in Egypt. This is the nation God used to bring us the Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ.

TV AND RADIO:

Sayare (Sauti ya Rehema-Voice of Mercy) - (Thursdays 8 PM and Saturday 6:30 PM - Kenya Time)

Solomon is currently teaching on Leadership from the Book of Nehemiah. However we started with two questions: 1) Why did God give the land of Canaan to the people of Israel? 2) Why did God sent them into captivity where we meet Nehemiah? God gave Israel the land of Canaan because of his promise to Abraham, but also because of the wickedness of those nations. It was the same wickedness that caused God to send his people into captivity.

Partnership with St. Andrews School of Apologetics

St. Andrews School of Apologetics under the leadership of the founder and CEO, Jeffery Holts, MA has given us a one year grant to support our TV program through SAYARE with a monthly donation of $500.00 sent directly to the TV station in Kenya. We are grateful for God's provision.

KASSFM RADI/TV (Saturdays 11 PM to 1 AM)

Panel Discussion involving returnees from Kenya but leaving in different countries including Kenya, Australia, USA and other countries. Solomon opens with devotional and provides Biblical perspective on the issues discussed. Ocassionally we engage politicians and other government leaders.

PICTURE BELOW: Taken during our last visit to the KASSFM station in Nairobi. According to official report from the station about 5 million listen regularly and many depend on our program for advice on important issues. That is why sharing Biblical perspective is very critical.

Voice of Wisdom and Truth in Kalenjin Language

This is Solomon's mother tongue, community that produces 80% of world's long distant runners. Currently Solomon is teaching on leadership from Biblical perspective.

When the Sun Never Sets

Every day and night Ruby arranges the messages on Watch Party so that even while we sleep the word continues to go fourth. We wake up and simply count the number of countries we are reaching. All glory to God.

SEASON'S GREETINGS FROM SOLOMON AND RUBY

“Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord"

The shepherds had every reason to be afraid. The appearance of the angel was so sudden and they were not used to receiving special visits. But the angel had Good News! It was a message of hope for the world. This is the message the world needs today.

As we look back on the past year, we had many reasons to be afraid. Corona virus came and all our overseas plans had to be cancelled. Political situations in the USA and other countries experienced tumultuous times and economies around the world faced challenges.
But our God has remained faithful and gracious to us.

Family News

Joshua just completed a course from Cambridge University in English Teaching. He has been offered a job in South Korea, ticket and housing all provided free of charge. Praise the Lord.
He is dating a diplomat from South Korea.

Joy, Paul, and Kigen are doing well here in St. Louis. We do not see them as often due to COVID-19. When we visit we have to stay outside for protection. Keep praying for Cole Kigen.
He is doing well but still not able talk.

Joseph continues to do well in Arizona. He got a new job still helping those struggling with addiction. Still single and waiting on the Lord for a strong Christian woman.

Joanna continues to work in Chicago. She is dating a young man, Charlie. About six months ago he asked my hand to move towards engagement. Permission was granted.

Christmas

Dec. 20: We had a Zoom Christmas service for Kenyans and other internationals in Maryland. Others joined from other cities. An official from Kenyan Embassy was the MC.
We reached about 150.

CHRISTMAS EVE: We spent time cooking for students who had no where to go.

 CHRISTMAS DAY: We took food to students in their places of residency. More than 20 enjoyed the meal. It was a joy to serve.

We will send another letter soon to detail what God is doing in the ministry and new opportunities to impact more nations with the Good News of Christmas.

The picture at the top of the post was taken at our last live marriage seminar in Dallas before COVID-19 changed the way we do ministry. But COVID-19 did not stop our ministry. Through zoom, social media, TV and radio we are able to reach more people and countries than before.

Thank you for your prayer and financial support. Doors of ministry are opening in so many ways. God is building His Church and "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:18). Not even COVID-19 has been able to stand against Christ building His Church. Your partnership with us is one of the ways Christ is building His Church. Here is a brief report.

Zoom Seminars: (Another tool God has given to us)

The first Zoom seminar was on July 26, organized by a group called KWITU (Kenya Women In The United States). This is not a Christian organization. We had many Christian participants but also others including Muslims. They all listened as we opened the Scripture to hear what God says about Marriage.

On October 16-18 we had another Marriage Seminar organized by "Marriage Dynamics Forum International", with over 316 couples in attendance. We gave the closing message on Sunday. We finished the service at 7 pm, but the people stayed to ask questions and seek prayer until 11:30 PM. Our hearts were broken to learn of so many experiencing serious problems. At the same time we were encouraged to witness God's healing in some of the couples we have worked with in the past, and they testified how God has healed their marriages.

Facebook Live Bible Study:

We see new faces from different parts of the world every day. They include Politicians, Pastors, Church Leaders and people from all walks of life.

According to Facebook we have "fans" in 58 countries. We are live every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Through watch party and using our tablets and i-phone we are broadcasting almost 24/7 with people listening from around the world.

Additionally, we sent our messages to more than 60 different groups and forums who play our messages in their Facebook pages. Only God knows how many are reached every day.

Radio and TV:

KASSFM/KASS TV: Panel discussion that include panelists who are former students and are in the USA, Kenya, Australia, Saudi Arabia and most recently Bahrain. The broadcast is live radio and interactive so that our listeners are able to respond with questions and comments.

Occasionally we invite political leaders to articulate their agenda and challenge them on issues of integrity and faith.

SAYARE (Voice of Mercy): Through a gift from one of our supporting Churches we were able to add another TV signal in Eastern Kenya. This increases the number of people who are able to listen to us through TV.

Solomon continues to teach every Thursday 8 pm and Saturday 6:30 PM. It is also replayed at other times during the week.

Looking Ahead:

St. Andrews School of Apologetics under the leadership of its founder and supporter of our ministry, Jeffrey Holtz, MA, has agreed to partner with us to offer a class on Apologetics through our station SAYARE (Voice of Mercy) in Kenya. This will help pastors, Church leaders, and other believers be grounded in the world and able to defend the truth of the Gospel.

We are exploring possibility of doing training overseas through Zoom.

Faith is our spiritual eyes. Without it we cannot see the goodness and the blessings of the Lord.

Faith is our spiritual ears! Without it we cannot hear of the blessings of God.

Faith is our spiritual senses! Without it we cannot know God’s love and presence with us.

Faith gives us the reason to keep going, to keep trusting and to keep hope alive.

For through faith we know that God is on our side, always present, and always faithful.

Therefore, we can face every challenge on our way, every trial and every temptation.

                      Through faith we can move forward with hope and confidence trusting in his promises.

By faith we are reminded that God is our ever present help in times of trouble
It is because of faith that we can continue to serve others faithfully and lovingly.

We do so because we know we serve a God who is also so loving and so caring.

We do so by faith knowing that we serve a faithful God who never fails.

Out of great pain and sense of hopelessness the prophet of God spoke these words of hope,
words of determination that nothing will deter him from trusting the Lord, from waiting on Him
The servant of God declared victory in the midst of calamity, trials and a sense of helplessness
Sometimes, as believers it may appear that we are losing ground on every step and in every way we turn
It may seem as though everything is falling apart before our eyes
The servant of God has just reminded us that our response must always reflect our trust in God
It must reflect our faith in God's faithfulness, in God's grace and in God's commitment
We are never alone in our battles, no matter how tough they may be
We must exercise faith, trusting God to intervene our behalf so that we declare victory in the midst of trials
victory "for in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us" (Romans 8:37).

He Heals the Brokenhearted

1 Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.

 2 The LORD builds up Jerusalem he gathers the outcasts of Israel.

 3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

It is good to praise the Lord, to sing praises to our God

  From the mountain tops of joy it is good and fitting to praise the Lord

  From the valley of the brokenhearted and the wounded the Lord must be praised

  For it is from the Lord that the mountain top experience comes

  It is from the Lord that the brokenhearted and the wounded find healing and comfort

  It is from the Lord that all come and find help in times of need

  Therefore all who know the Lord come to him with hearts full of praise and thanksgiving

  They come to him with their hand opened to receive his blessings

  With their wounded souls to receive healing and restoration of joy

  It is good and fitting to praise the Lord!

  Lord help us be your instruments of peace and healing, instruments you can use

  Help us bring about healing to broken hearted and bind the wounds of the wounded

  Make us your agents of change as we extend our hands to all who have needs

  May all you bring to our lives discover that healing truly comes from you!

14 “Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.” Really? Is this not rewarding the wrong doer? The person wronged needs to be proactive, and do something for the persecutor. How can it be? Where is justice? The one in the wrong receives the blessing. What about the person persecuted? But this is the word of God. We are to bless the people who try to make life impossible for us, who try to undermine anything we do, who delights in seeing us hurt. Now we have to turn around and bless them. Is there no justice? Yes there is justice but it is not our business.

17” Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all.” So, now the question is not about justice but about honor. When we are wronged we ask how can we react in such a way that all will feel honored. In essence when wrong is done, we do what is right. But should the wrong doer go scotch free or go blessed?

19”Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord." 20To the contrary, "if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head." 21Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”


Yes, there will be justice but God is saying it is not our job to bring it about. Avenging ourselves can land us in real trouble and cause much pain. God wants to free us from unnecessary pain That is his job and he knows exactly how to do it. However, we cannot bless hoping that their heads will be burning with coal. That is not a blessing. Blessing means praying for the same people who hurt us and doing them good. It means seeking to communicate to your enemy that because of Christ in you there is a capacity in your heart to forgive, to love beyond human reasoning, to accept the hurt by setting the persecutor free. Such a response will result in healing that will bring great freedom to us. Nevertheless it is a response that requires reliance on God’s grace to bring about. We do that freely and graciously and leave the rest in God’s sovereign wisdom.

5For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
    for my hope is from him.
 6 He only is my rock and my salvation,
    my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
 7On God rests my salvation and my glory;
    my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

Sometimes the storms rise up against us and the waves seem to hit us from all directions. Sometimes we are tested and tried, tested and tried by every wind that seems to blow our way. These are the times we are called upon to find hope and peace in God who is our Rock. They are the times that we are challenged to discover that God remains our only fortress. They are the times we are called upon to refuse to be shaken, to refuse to give up. They the times we are called upon to stand strong though the reason to stand seems to fade away. At such times we must focus on the power and the love of God the Almighty.

With God as our fortress, our source of protection, we have reason to continue believing. We have every reason to expect and enjoy the quiet rest and the peace from our Lord, our solid Rock. Even when sorrow seems to penetrate our inner being and our hearts seems to sink into despondency. We can still believe that we will yet rise up to the top of the mountain, rise up to joy and victory. We must still believe that we will rise up because the Rock that is higher than us is with us. This Rock is our God, our fortress, our refuge, our salvation!

This Rock is the reason we are able to touch lives and speak the message of love and hope to the broken hearted. Let us keep doing it for in so doing we help them find refuge and healing in the same God.

God has graciously given Solomon and Ruby opportunities to share his love through Radio and TV.

KASS FM: Kalenjin Radio/TV station. This is a panel discussion engaging professionals who are former international students but are in leadership positions in different countries such as Saudi Arabia, Australia, Kenya and the USA. We cover different issues affecting leadership, family and many others. Solomon and Ruby provide devotional for the group and lead in prayer. Also we provde Biblical perspective on issues. According to the station our listeners are about 5 million. The program is aired life every Sunday morning in Kenya at 7 AM. While the program is live on radio it is taped for TV and aired at least twice during the week.

FACEBOOK BIBLE STUDY: Every Friday night 10:30 St. Louis time. Currently we are studying the book of Nehemiah.

It was such a blessing to work with our returnee, Rohaan and see how God is using him to touch so many lives in Sri Lanka. We witnessed people from Hindu background seeking kneeling down to seek the Lord. Rohaan is our key contact person in Sri Lanka and we look forward to working with him again next year, 2018.

St. Mary's Childrens' Home: Ruby's home for the first 17 years of her life

A great reunion as Ruby invited former orphans to visit the Children's home and speak to the current children calling St. Mary's the only home.
